Editing a page
If you register and log-in, you can edit any page on this wiki. Just click on the "Edit" link which you can find towards the top left of each page (under the title "CISG and ELSG conference 2008")
An edit screen will open up. Make any changes you want, then click the Save button at the bottom of the page.
The edit screen buttons
By-and-large, the edit screen buttons are a lot like the buttons you get in Word. So I won't bore you explaining how to make a bit of text bold.
The ones that are most likely to be unfamiliar are those on the right-hand side of the top row. Here's what they do:
Undo button: undoes the last thing you did
Insert link button: select text and click this button to create a link to another page. This can be another page in the wiki (a handy list comes up when you press this button), or an external web page.
Insert table button: Inserts a table
Horizontal rule button: Inserts a horizontal line - useful for marking off sections of a page
Plugins button: Use this button to add things like slideshows, calendars and other interesting things to your page.
What happens if I accidentally save a mistake?
Oops! You've saved the page but don't like the changes - and you can't remember what the page said before. Don't worry! The wiki stores past editions of each page, which means you can copy and paste from a previous version. Just click on the "page history" link towards the top right of the text area and you will see a list of previous versions of the page. You can click through to the version you would like to go back to and copy the text ready to paste into a new edit of the page.
